Chopard L.U.C.: Models and Prices. New, used, vintage.

Chopard L.U.C

The Chopard L.U.C collection honours the founder of the traditional watch company, Louis-Ulysse Chopard, whose initials present the watch line with its name. Each L.U.C timepiece is a technical masterpiece that has been time-tested by the historical values of its founder. Among others, precision, craftsmanship, and aesthetics in every aspect are among the highest values of Chopard watchmakers.

Chopard L.U.C

A tribute to the master of watchmaking: Chopard

In 1860, Louis-Ulysse Chopard founded his watchmaking workshop with a clear vision. Thanks to the high quality of his movements, Chopard pocket watches shrouded other timepieces of the period in shadow. Above the door of his workshop in Sonvilier, in the Swiss region of Jura, the watchmaker displayed his initials – L.U.C – for all who entered to see. With hand-crafted timepieces, the young Chopard carried out several sales trips to meet the demanding customers of Swiss borders.

In 1997, the Chopard L.U.C collection was presented in honour of the ingenious founder. That same year, the company launched its first in-house automatic movement and also named it after the founder of the company. The L.U.C timepieces are equipped with an in-house manufactured automatic movement that is adorned with the famous initials. With each unique timepiece, the rich history of the Chopard name is reinvented. Chopard L.U.C timepieces are manufactured 100% in-house. Given the fact that Chopard currently remains an independent family business, the company’s high level of vertical integration is simply admirable. The Chopard manufactory in Fleurier is fully responsible for the production of the watch movements, which consist of a wide range of calibres that are used in a variety of Chopard models.

Certificates and quality seals

The unparalleled quality standards of the Chopard house

Chopard L.U.C timepieces are certified with various recognised certificates and seals of approval, both in terms of the movements of the watches, as well as the quality and precision of the timepieces as a whole.

Several models from the L.U.C collection have been bestowed with the prestigious COSC certificate, which certifies the accuracy and precision of the chronometers. The quality standards of the Fondation Qualité Fleurier go beyond that of the COSC Testing Institute. In fact, the Fondation Qualité Fleurier checks not only the movement of the timepiece itself but also the quality and accuracy of the entire mechanism as a whole. The Fondation Qualité Fleurier-seal adorns several timepieces from the L.U.C collection, such as the L.U.C Qualité Fleuerier or the L.U.C Tourbillon QF. Some watches from the collection have also been certified by the strict Poinçon de Genève or Geneva Seal, which places particularly high demands on the quality of the timepieces and ensures that a certain amount of mechanical parts were in fact manufactured in the Geneva region.

Endless options

Diverse and exquisite: The L.U.C collection from Chopard

Chopard has created a wide range of sophisticated in-house movements since 1996 that perfectly demonstrate the vast diversity of the L.U.C collection. The Chopard L.U.C series includes over 70 individual timepieces that revive the passion and skill of the ingenious Louis-Ulysse Chopard. With five different lines – elegance, complications, grand complications, heritage and technology – the collection presents perfect models fit for a variety of watch enthusiasts.

The L.U.C “heritage” models are dedicated to the long established traditions of the company and therefore, inspire with a classic design. The watches discovered within the “tech” design group are comprised of innovative mechanics that combine traditional elements of the brand with a futuristic look.

The L.U.C collection also offers models under the “elegance” heading. These timepieces are featured with extravagant lacquered dials and intricate works of art. The L.U.C XP Urushi is a timepiece that features Japanese cultural motifs designed by the Japanese artist Kiichiro Masumura. The dial of the watch is definite eye-catcher that will lure great attention. Distinct models from the Elegant line also include the simple L.U.C XPS with a reduced dial, the popular square L.U.C XP Tonneau, or the noble L.U.C Quattro.

The Complication line, on the other hand, convinces with technical finesse. The timepieces that make-up this line include sophisticated features such as a chronograph function, a tourbillon mechanism, or a moon-phase display, which further demonstrate that Chopard watches are magnificent pieces of Haute Horlogerie.
