Nomos Orion

The Orion has placed watch lovers around the world under its spell. With a minimalist design perfectly representative of the Glashütte manufacturer, it is a timepiece that essentially no one can resist. Purist and elegant: Nomos has opted to leave out numerals on the classic dials in favour of a simple and clear design. The watch is a unisex timepiece that is timeless in form and the Nomos Glashütte Orion is a precise keeper of time that can be relied upon for eternity.

The Nomos Orion collection

The hidden gem from Nomos Glashütte

A quick glance at the stylish Orion timepiece will reveal the reason why the creators of the watch have stated that is it their unofficial favourite piece. Indeed, many Nomos Glashütte employees sport a watch from the Orion collection on their wrists, as the German watchmaking company from the capital of Glashütte has reported. The name of the collection has been derived from its form: lenticular and thin, the stylish case resembles a UFO soaring towards the Orion constellation.

Despite a futuristic form, Nomos Glashütte has remained faithful to its minimalistic principles. With a simplistic dial and an elegant hound-wound movement, the watch acts as a contemporary instrument on every wrist. The Nomos Orion has been presented with many awards and it can easily be acknowledged that the timepiece calls out to more than just skilled craftsmen and demanding clientele. In fact, the entire Nomos Orion collection was presented with the Austrian Chrono-Award under the category of “Trendsetter”. Furthermore, the Nomos Glashütte Orion 38 in grey was presented with the “Goldene Unruh” or the Golden Balance award – one of the most respected prizes for new watches in Germany. Participating Goldene Unruh watches are entered into one of five categories and at the Munich Time Watch 2013, the Orion was bestowed the award in the category of “Classical Elegance”.

Unisex, timeless, universal

Orion: The showcase series by Nomos

No element without function and no superfluous details: minimalism simply triumphs when it comes to the Nomos Orion collection. The sleek form of the case and the smooth curvature of the sapphire crystal mingle into a perfect liaison. The Orion further impresses with reliability and precision, which is guaranteed by the classic manual winding calibre Nomos Alpha. The clear and legible dial of the Nomos Orion Date is complemented with a date display.

The Nomos Orion is truly a universal timepiece that is available in three sizes: 33, 35, and 38-milimeters. Thanks to the variety of sizes, both men and women can find the perfect size to fit their preferences and wrists. The design of the unisex watch is available with a white-silvered dial, an elegant anthracite pink dial, or a pale pink dial. Depending on the model, the indices of the timepiece are gold or silver plated while the hands are polished and rhodium plated, steel and blue tempered, or gold plated. Each model is available with a case back comprised of transparent sapphire crystal or on request of the client, finished with solid stainless steel. All Nomos Orion models are fitted with a high-grade leather band and a stylish pin buckle.

Traditionally conscious

The Nomos Orion 1989

November 9, 1989, is a special day for the German watchmaking capital of Glashütte in Sachsen. Following the collapse of the Berlin wall, the tradition of local watchmaking in Glashütte was revived and the industry once again flourished. Glashütte became a prestigious and renowned location for the art of watchmaking once again. Despite the relatively young age of the manufacturer, Nomos is a perfect model that follows the watchmaking tradition of Glashütte. A special timepiece was launched in 2014 in order to honour the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall. The Orion 1989 comes equipped with a “November Grey” dial that measures 38-milimeteres, a stainless steel case, and a suede band comprised of the same colour as the dial of the watch. Sapphire crystal encloses the Alpha hand wound movement. The men’s model was priced at 1,800 Euros and the 33-millimeter model was priced at 1,580 Euros.
